I'm claiming a tactical masterclass!

We also learnt from this that Panzer III's and IV's don't suck as much as everyone thinks.Anomanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10444512228342120651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1341589131708835949.post-39012879245186456632013-05-17T00:17:31.503-07:002013-05-17T00:17:31.503-07:00I think I made two big mistakes - I should have ha...I think I made two big mistakes - I should have had the Stuarts and Shermans start the game in the opposite positions, and I should have sent the infantry up earlier.

What I didn't really consider was that the Shermans were almost a vulnerable to the Panthers as the Stuarts, so having Shermans against them wasn't much of an advantage (although it's really hard to destroy a Panther with a Stuart - AT 7 against side armour 5). Had I sent the infantry in with the tanks to start with, I could have tried to mob the tanks early on, although the infantry in the woods were a worry for me there. All too often have German machine guns ripped my infantry to pieces as I've tried to assault.

Removing the far left objective was supposed to force the infantry to leave their trenches, and let me maneuver around that flank to get around the back of the woods with the Stuarts. Unfortunately, the infantry lasted a bit too long (it took two assaults to get rid of them), and Pete was a bit too lucky in the fight between the Shermans and the Panzer IV's on the right, so I couldn't then do what I wanted and try to get the Panthers in a pincer.

At that point I was a bit stuck, so I threw everything in at once, but again my luck failed. I got through the Panthers' armour a few times but never made the firepower rolls! Next time...Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00848621085539093148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1341589131708835949.post-75512640530711073642013-05-16T22:26:58.682-07:002013-05-16T22:26:58.682-07:00Will do.
