Blood Brothers

The mustering of Blood Angeks to defend the Imperium against the depredations of the Warmaster and the vile traitors that follow him (i.e. Pete).

These are my first five of the new Mark VI plastic marines released with the new edition of The Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness.

They are really nice models that go together well (although I made a bit of a hash of lining arms up).

Arguably the only downside with this miniatures is the lack of poseability, meaning that I'm going to have to put some thought into not ending up with the sane five models on repeat.

In terms of painting I kept the weapons, backpacks and shoulder pads off for painting. This is not something I've done in the past, but it really helped.

I did an undercoat of Grey Seer and then a coat of Flesh Tearer's Red contrast paint for shading, followed by a coat of Mephiston Red.

The black and silver parts were picked out and washed with Nuln Oil, before adding the separate elements (which had already been basecoated) and repeating the process.

The eyes are done with white and then washed with Hexwraith Flame.

I've not done anything too clever as I want to be able to get lots done quickly and have them match my existing models.

At the moment I've achieved only one of these goals as the process took much longer than expected. I'm hoping to speed things up a bit to get through the remaining 15.

Still a way to go to overturn the 'avalanche' (in my terms) of miniatures that have found their way to me recently, but progress is progress.
