Zomtober: The Gang’s All Here

Zomtober has been a bit of a struggle this week. I’ve not been in a painty mood, I’ve been quite busy and the little motivation I have had is coming mainly from Lord of the Rings.

However, I have managed to get a single model done, as per the rules.

Not my best work, but job done.

This is Carlos, one of Derek’s scavengers in the Walking Dead comics. He also adds to the gang that came in the Walking Dead: All Out War starter set.

Here they are as they appear in the comics:

And here’s my version of them:

If you look carefully you’ll see that Liam isn’t in the picture from the comic as he’s dead by then. I’d say it’s a spoiler but the others last about three more pages.

That means there’s one more Scavenger to get at some point.

As ever, if my ropey painting has inspired you to buy the game, it can be found here:

    1. It’s not one of the better models, sadly. The hands are tiny, the gun needs straightening and there’s not much of interest about him.

I’m just glad he’s out of the queue.

  2. Wonderful group. Even if it's "not your best work", I like them a lot!

  3. Nicely done despite your lack of motivation and lack of enthusiasm for the mini. :)

    1. Thanks. Although most of the range is great, some of the Walking Dead minis leave me a bit cold.

  4. Darn, when you said what little motivation you were getting was from LOTR I thought you may have thrown photos of a figure or two down at the bottom lol!
Great stuff though, you've done a really good job on the skin tones in particular!

    1. I didn’t do anything fancy with the skin, just used a different base colour.

      In terms of LotR posts...

      “They are coming...!”

    1. Thanks. I like how the poses are taken directly from the comic.

  6. I’ve been putting off painting the scavenger gang as they’re just not very exciting! Maybe if I go back and reread TWD from the start I might be more inspired...

    1. They’re not exciting at all, but they are simple, so they’re quite good to do when you’re not that motivated.

  7. Fun stuff trying to match the comic photo with the figures! Haven't started on any of my Mantic Walking Dead stuff yet!

    1. Thanks. There’s such a lot that starting is the hardest part because once one is done, you have to do the others.
