Busy As A Bee

Every so often I get motivated to work quickly. I never know when it's going to happen, but it has happened this week.

Yesterday I received a model I'd ordered some time ago, and my painting desk became a hive of activity and I've got him cleaned up, assembled and painted in just over 24 hours.

The model is Buzz-Off (yes, that's his name), the leader of the Andreenids, a bee-like race of good guys who occasionally help, or are helped by, He-Man.

The model is a custom sculpt which is very similar to the original Filmation and toy versions (although the helmet is less daft).

I've gone for a very traditional colour scheme, although I've chosen to make the helmet and belt gold rather than yellow, and Buzz-Off has green goggles, whereas he usually has green eyes and brown goggles.

The wings were a separate piece which I've done simply with Cassandora Yellow over white.

The weapon hand was also separate, with a choice between an axe or a lance. I went with the axe because its what my childhood toy had, and I was concerned that a resin lance is doomed to snap; something that would really sting.

Hopefully, this brief surge of activity might be a sign that I have my painting major back.

Anyway, that's enough of me droning on, here are the progress scores:

Acquired: 101
Painted: 99

  3. I can't say that He-Man cartoons ever rocked my boat but saying that you have done a sterling job in painting the figure..... now where's my fly zapper.

    1. Thank you. I think He-Man has a very narrow window of nostalgia.

  6. Great work! Never had him as a kid, so the nostalgia for this one is not so big, but he's a cracking addition.
