Where's Your Bow?

Today I present something a little simpler. A pair of Brightmoon 'Archers' to join the Great Rebellion in my She-Ra collection.

These two were produced as custom sculpts from the same source as my Hordak, Horde Troopers and Brightmoon Guards. In fact, these models are slight redesigns of the Brighmoon Guards, changing their weapon and giving them a helmet.

The colour scheme is somewhat suspect, but this is largely down to the sensibilities of 1980's children's TV. Sadly, this made painting them a bit unsatisfying, as there wasn't much to do. This might have led to me being a bit slapdash and these photos have helped me spot some bits that need revisiting.

On top of this, I really need to have a word with myself about taking the time to tidy up resin miniatures before painting, as cleaning flash and mould lines (not that there were many) during painting is a pain. Also, I really should have painted the weapons and hands before attaching them to the body, as working around them was awkward.

I do really like the miniatures and I think they've turned out fine, I'm just sad that I don't think I've done them justice. I'll probably give them a bit more love over the coming days, let's face it, I've got time on my hands.

As well pointing out the inaccuracies of these models' names, the post title is also a nod to the fact that although there are a good number of princesses I've not got in my Great Rebellion, the key character I'm now missing is Bow, he of the impressive moustache.

You can perhaps see why this is proving tricky to proxy. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Two more done though and the numbers are moving steadily in my favour.

Acquired: 112
Painted: 86

    1. Cheers. The more I think about it, the more I feel that it's the godawful colour scheme.

  2. They did turn out fine. For us miniature painters the work can always be better but honestly these look good to me.

    1. This is true, and these were done off the back of some that I thought I'd done particularly well. Maybe it's just context.

    1. I think I just don't like the colour scheme, and I didn't choose that.
